With its continuous advancements and wondrous discoveries, the skincare world offers multiple options at the disposal of a particular user. With 10 different types of face washes, 15 different serums, and 20 different types of sunscreens, a user cannot help but get confused. Skincare in the current times is also becoming complex, no matter how broad and multipurpose.
Can you relate to this?
If yes, this basic, follow our genuine skincare routine guide in just three primary steps will be your bible!
Root Natural has narrowed down these steps with extreme caution,
Here goes our curated three-pointer list:
1. Cleansing: Washing your face with a suitable face wash
The ABC of any skincare routine is a cleansing/washing your face with a face wash. Because our skin is continuously exposed to the environment, pollutants and UV radiations of the sun, these factors need to be washed out gently from the skin. Besides this, clogged pores, dullness and acne can be well avoided by cleansing/washing your face at least twice a day, morning and night (before going to bed).
Now, facial cleansers or face washes are different for different skin types. Although separated by a thin line, this difference ought to be well understood so that your cleanser/face wash doesn’t deprive you of essential oils.
Refer to this table to sort out everyday cleansing:
Oily/acne-prone skin | Foaming liquid to remove excess sebum accumulation in pores and break down dirt |
Dry/red/eczema-prone | Cream or lotion containing glycerin and/or shea butter to hydrate skin for removing impurities |
Sensitive | Oil absorbs oil thus leading to effective cleansing. Use non-comedogenic, lightweight, moisturizing and tolerated oil such as Argan |
Mature |
Melting balm that transitions into a liquid when applied to the skin and is ideal for dissolving heavy makeup and general soothness |
Other skin types | Micellar water attracts dirt and oiliness from the skin like a magnet without leading to any dull or dryness |

2. Toning: Balancing the skin
The best time to apply a toner is after you’ve cleansed/washed your face and before applying anything else. This ‘anything’ includes your serums, your moisturisers as well as sunscreens. Balancing is your skin’s pH and giving it its daily supply of healthy nutrients and ingredients is the main agenda of any toner. The ideal way to apply a toner is to pour a few drops of it on your clean, washed palm and wipe it gently over your face. You could also use a cotton pad, but you end up using and losing excess product in this case.
With all types of formulas except exfoliating acids, you can use toners in the morning and night. However, exfoliating acids should be used only at night or alternately.
